Quality Streets comes to Seaford

01/11/2010

The latest Quality Streets event will take place in Vale Road, Seaford on Tuesday 2 November.

Quality Streets is Lewes District Community Safety Partnerships flagship community project which delivers work across the district with other agencies.

Officers from Seaford Neighbourhood Policing Team will join a team of offenders on Community Payback who will carry out work in the area under the supervision of the Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust.

Community Payback is a scheme run by the probation service where offenders do unpaid work to make amends to the community for the harm they have caused.

Officers from the police and Lewes Council will be on hand to give advice about community issues from dog fouling to anti-social behaviour.

Information stalls will be staffed during the day and residents encouraged to participate in the partnerships community safety survey and to discuss the services that are available.

Sonia Crozier, Surrey & Sussex Probation Trust Chief Executive said, This is an ideal scheme for us. We work closely with other agencies in the Community Safety Partnership and residents can see very clearly the difference we can make by bringing a Community Payback team into their area.

Chair of the Partnership and Police District Commander Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney said, "We welcome all residents to come and talk to us about anything that concerns them. There will be officers from most of the agencies who are responsible for delivering community services such as the police, council and Fire Service.

The Lewes District Community Safety Partnership consists of Sussex Police, Lewes District Council, Surrey & Sussex Probation Trust, East Sussex County Council, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Sussex Police Authority and NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald, as well as a number of voluntary organisations who, working together, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour as well as the fear of crime across the district.
