SSPT Retains 5-Star Excellence Status
13/12/2011
Surrey & Sussex Probation Trust has become the first probation service in the country to retain the maximum five-star status from a leading business excellence assessor.
The trust has achieved five stars in the Recognised for Excellence (R4E) programme following an assessment last week.
R4E is part of the EFQM Levels of Excellence programme and is designed for organisations that are well on their way to achieving organisational excellence. It recognises successful efforts to implement excellence and good practice, and offers the benefits of a structured approach to identifying organisational strengths and areas for improvement as well as an external point of view.
The trust, which was formed on 1 April 2010 as a result of the merger of Surrey Probation Area and Sussex Probation Area, became the first probation service to achieve a five-star rating last year.
SSPT acting chief executive Nick Smart said: "To retain our status during a period of such enormous change is a great reflection on the people in the organisation and an impressive achievement. The assessors commented on the strong commitment to high standards that they encountered throughout their visit."
