SSPT To Appear Before Justice Select Committee

MPs from the cross-party Justice Select Committee will quiz SSPT representatives in Brighton on Tuesday (May 24) as part of their ongoing inquiry into the role of the probation service.

SSPT Chief Executive Sonia Crozier, Trust Board Chair John Steele and Brighton and Hove Director Leighe Rogers will face questions from the committee alongside Linda Beanlands, Commissioner of the City's Community Safety Partnership, in the first panel starting at 9.45am at Brighton Town Hall..

A second panel session at 10.45am will feature representatives from local partnership organisations: Chief Superintendent Graham Bartlett of Sussex Police,  Lisa Dando of the Brighton Women's Centre, Jason Mahoney from Hastings and Rother Primary Care Trust and Claire Brown, magistrate and Chair of Sussex Central Bench.

The session, which is a formal proceeding of Parliament, is open to the press and the public.

Chief Executive Sonia Crozier said: "We look forward to being able to showcase some of the fantastic partnership work we are undertaking in Surrey & Sussex, particularly Brighton, and giving the committee a flavour of the front-line work of the probation service."
