Rehabilitating offenders

Changing behaviour and preventing crime

The ability of offenders to change and rehabilitate with the appropriate support and guidance is central to the probation ethos.

Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust operate a range of successful activities aimed at tackling the root causes of offending. These include:

Offending behaviour programmes

Offending behaviour programme

Tackling the way people think has been shown to directly affect the way they behave. Offending behaviour programmes are designed to address and challenge the activities and patterns of behaviour that contribute to committing crime. These programmes are courses that offenders have to attend either as part of a Community Order or as a condition of release from prison.

Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust run a variety of programmes accredited by the Home Office, addressing criminal behaviour including general offending, domestic violence, sex offending, drink driving and more.
