Developing thinking skills to prevent offending
The Thinking Skills Programme (TSP) is a group programme which seeks to develop and challenge offenders' self control and problem solving skills which have led to their offending.
Who is suitable?
TSP is aimed at male and female offenders who demonstrate poor problem solving skills, tend to be impulsive in ther offending and do not think through the consequences of their actions.
The programme involves:
- 15 twice-weekly 2.5 hour groupwork sessions
- Pre and post-groupwork sessions with an offender manager.
- The sessions will:
- Develop self-control skills
- Develop skills to understand emotions and make controlled decisions
- Help with developing supportive relationships
- Help with setting goals and planning to achieve them without offending
